Sunaina goes strong and steady

 

Sunaina, who started off with Kadhalil Vizhundhen followed it up with several films including Arulnidhi's debut flick Vamsam.

Lately the actress was said to have been roped in as the second heroine for Vishal's Samaran.

Now she has signed a movie, Mike Set Pandi with director Rasu Madhuravan opposite Sabarish, who is one film old.
Says Sunaina,

I was flooded with rural roles after Vamsam. I didn't want to get typecast and deliberately turned down many projects.
Thankfully Rasu Madhuravan's film has an urban character and lots of scope for performance, including comedy.'

Vikram’s Thaandavam hit the floors

 

Vikram and AL Vijay's second combo movie Thaandavam was launched on Wednesday (November 30). Saranya Ponvannan, Jagapathi Babu, GV Prakash, Alagappan, Mysskin, Delhi Ganesh and others were present.

Prior to the shooting, the lead actors will take part in photo sessions. UTV's Dhananjayan confirmed the news and said that it will commence shortly. The first look of the film will be released soon after the completion of the initial photo shoots.

Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu is all set to team up with Vikram in his forthcoming bilingual movie Thaandavam. He will be seen in the role of a baddie in the movie directed by AL Vijay. Anushka Shetty and Amy Jackson are the leading ladies of the movie.

The movie brings the successful combination of Deiva Thirumagal – Vikram, Anushka, director AL Vijay and GV Prakash Kumar together. Produced by UTV Motion Pictures, Thaandavam will be shot in Delhi, US and Chennai.

Thaandavam is said to be loosely inspired by Hollywood flick The Bourne Identity. Vikram's character named Shiva will be doing the role of a retrograde amnesia patient, which was played by Matt Damon in the original. While Anushka performs the character of Vikram's wife, Amy Jackson plays the role of his girlfriend.

Vairamuthu pens for Mani Ratnam

 

Noted poet Vairamuthu has tweeted that he has written a "soul stirring song" for Mani Ratnam's next film.

The tweet says the song will be a melody tuned by AR Rahman.

Vairamuthu has blown the lid of secrecy over Mani Ratnam's next project said to be a love story with new faces.

Vairamuthu says the song is a lovely duet drenched in melody and will stand out in the midst of Kuthu and Tanglish numbers.

The buzz is that the film has been titled Pookadai and it stars Gautham, actor Karthik's son and Thulasi daughter of yester year actress Radha.

It is also reported that Arjun would be playing a pivotal role in the film. The shoot ofthe film will kickstart near Thengapattanam in Kanyakumari district by the end of the month.

Karthi & Kajal signs up for Bru

 

Pretty actress Kajal Agarwal has signed up for Bru instant coffee endorsement. Actor Karthi will be seen with Kajal in the ad and already it's being aired in all the channels in the south. The duo has turned out to be good pair with the Tamil film Naan Mahaan Alla later dubbed as Naa Peru Shiva in Telugu, which set the cash registers ringing.

Incidentally, Suriya and Jyothika are the brand ambassadors of its competitor brand Nescafe and Karthi has signed up for Bru locking horns with Suriya. Kajal is currently busy with the Businessman film with Mahesh that will release in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam versions simultaneously and she is also part of Suriya, KV Anand's project Matraan.

Cloud Nine has confirmed Vada Chennai

 

Leading producer Dhyanidhi Alagiri of Cloud Nine has confirmed that he will beproducing the Vetrimaran directed Vada Chennai.

It will be Vetrimaran's next project after the critically acclaimed Aadukalam.

Dhyanidhi Alagiri has tweeted: "The Vetrimaran directed Vada Chennai, pre-production work is going on. Silambarasan will play the protagonist while Rana Dagubatti plays a special prominent role and Andrea has a pivotal role"

Vetrimaran's regular music director GV Prakash will score the music, Velraj will the cameraman, Kishore is the editor and production designer is Jackie.

As the title indicates, Vada Chennai is set in North Madras area. The shoot of the film will start from March 2012.

Karthika thrilled shooting for Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum

 

Call it an irony. After directing actress Radha as heroine for many of his movies, veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja has now cast Radha's daughter Karthika as heroine for his movie Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum.

Says Karthika, 'my mom often used call Bharathiraja as her mentor. Now I too can proudly say that Bharathiraja is my guru. I admire all his movies and grew up watching them. Now to act in his film is a blessing in disguise for me.'

'Though I played a sophisticated urban girl in Kho opposite Jiiva (her first Tamil venture), doing a rural belle in Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum is a ne experience for me. I just do what Bharathiraja wants me to do onscreen. He knows what to extract from me'.

Karthika says, 'I had several offers coming my way after Kho. But I chose to wait and watch. I was keen to do a different film. At such a juncture came Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum. I had no hesitation in accepting the offer once Bharathiraja called me'.

She says, 'I am getting offers in Bollywood. I am listening to few stories. If I comes across an exciting one, I will lap it up'.
