Veteran Comedian Idichapuli Selvaraj Passes away

Idichapuli Selvaraj is one of the classic comedians of Tamil cinema.   He has acted more than 100 films in his carrier and has known for his Top comedy scenes with Koundamani and Senthil in the movie Chinna Vathiyar starringPrabhu and Ranjitha in the lead roles.. Also Selvaraj has acted with the legends like MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan in his earlier days.   The 73 old veteran actor who had breathing complaints around 8 am in the morning was rushed to the Royapettah Hospital but he passed away on the way.   His wife name is Chellam and he has a daughter named Vasanthi. People are paying his last attributes at his residence at Nandanam, Chennai.

Everyone can relate to Prakash Raj’s Dhoni, says Ilayaraja

 

Prakash Raj couldn't have asked for a better audio launch than this for his Tamil directorial debut Dhoni!

The music composer of the film, Ilayaraja, for the first time rendered all the songs from Dhoni on stage with a live orchestra and enthralled the entire gathering. The maestro spoke exclusively to DC about the movie, Prakash Raj and the need for 'out of the box' promotion.

On breaking policies and accepting for a live show:

I have no rules as misconstrued! Prakash Raj is fond of live orchestra and when he approached me, I agreed!

About Dhoni:

Prakash has made a film, which questions the system we live in. It questions every system we follow including education and economy. The society is answerable. You should watch the film to understand. Don't make it sound that Dhoni is a controversial film; it is a film which everyone can relate to!

Director’s union announces revised wages

 

The Tamil Nadu Film Directors Union has come out with a new revised wage structure.

At a press meet on Sunday (Jan 29) evening, the union announced it because the three-year agreement between Tamil Film Producers Council and FEFSI on wage revision, which was signed on April 10, 2008, expired.

As per the revised wage structure a director should be paid Rs 1,000 a day if the shooting is done in the city and Rs 1,200 for outstation shoots. For a joint director, the wages are Rs 500 within the city and Rs 600 outside, an associate director should be paid Rs 400 and Rs 500; the first assistant director should get Rs 300 and Rs 400; and the second assistant director Rs 200 and Rs 300 respectively.

The directors should start a film after getting a work agreement with the producer. And if a film is stalled, the director's salary of Rs 10 lakhs should be paid. The press meeting was held by Ameer the secretary of Director's Union along with other office bearers.
