Vikram’s ‘Karikalan’ – Interesting tidbits

 

At least two cities of Chola dynasty are being recreated for 'Karikalan', Vikram's next, which is directed by special effects expert LI Kannan. "The port city of Kaveripoompattinam and the business hub Uraiyur are carefully being recreated," informs the director.

"With the help of experts, books and technology, we are planning to take the audience to the era of Karikala Cholan, which dates back to more than 2000 years. Karikalan is like Alexander. He was brave, charming and very interesting," says Kannan, who is excited about the project.

"I am lucky to have Parthi and Vasan as my producers. They don't mind shelling out money as all they expect is a quality product. And I must thank Vikram, for none other than him could bring Karikala Cholan alive on screen. He is simply superb," the director says.

"The film will set new standards in Kollywood as far as special effects are concerned. With my experience working in various movies, including Enthiran, I have been giving nothing but my best for Karikalan. Get ready for a time machine journey soon," he concludes.

Rajinikanth: “Rana to start in 2012″

 

Superstar Rajinikanth was in Tirupati temple a few days back on a "Thanksgiving" pilgrimage. The evergreen superstar was looking stylish and raring to go after his recent illness.

Rajinikanth spoke at length to the media and thanked his fans whose prayers helped him overcome his illness. Confessed, Rajini : "My fans are my strength. I don't know how to thank them."

On Rana, Rajinikanth said: "It's a mega film, action and costume drama, so too much of physical strain for me. The doctors have advised me to take complete rest for some more time. On their advice we have decided to start Rana only by January end or early February 2012. "

Sridevi’s English Vinglish

 

Gorgeous lady Sridevi is making her comeback on big-screens with a new film titled English Vinglish. The film will simultaneously be dubbed in Telugu and Tamil since the actress has huge fans in South India too. Sridevi has initially started off her career in Telugu and Tamil and later reached the great heights.

English Vinglish is being directed by Gauri Shinde and produced by Balki. The 48 year old actress has earlier quit acting after entering wedlock with producer Boney Kapoor. There is also a buzz earlier that Sridevi might feature in Chiranjeevi's 150th film. However, the actress rubbished off the rumors.

Well, let's wait to see the beauty queen yet again on big-screens.

Is Venkat Prabhu greasing his palm with Ulaganayagan?

 

Post Mankatha trend speaks a lot about the director in Venkat Prabhu. Earlier there were reports that he could muster back to back movie with Thala but it was shun on the air. Now the informal meet between ulaganayagan Kamal Hassan and Venkat has created some fumes over the industry.

Though the observers view it as a friendly gesture to praise the director it was implied that Venkat outlined an oneline commercial story to Kamal. It seems that the veteran actor has got interest to develop it for his next venture after Viswaroopam.

The sources say it is always a fashion for Kamal to offer a full length entertainer after a serious theme. It this logic is correct then it could be true of Venkat's offer.

Rajapattai climax shot in natural rain

 

Vikram's upcoming flick Rajapattai was canned in Binny mills . Entire crew members were loaded with energy since the climax was shot with huge sum of 4 crores. The climax sets were erected by Art Director Rajeevan and Director Suseenthiran was very much impressed with the way the scenes were canned. Interestingly , the unit had to face the rain which lashed Chennai city few days back but the team seems to have managed shooting those action sequences with the natural rain.Vikram is set to have don 10 different get ups for this movie .Rajapattai is nearing completion and the movie is expected to hit the screens for this Christmas season.

Sneha Ullal to romance Vishal

 

Telugu actress , Sneha Ullal is all set to make her tamil debut .It is reported that she will be Vishal's love interest in Samaran which is expected to go on floors from October 28th. Apart from Sneha Ullal , this movie will also have gorgeous Trisha romancing Vishal. Samaran is directed by Theeratha Vilayatu Pillai fame Thiru and the music will be composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Surya praises Ajith and Vijay

 

Recently, Actor Surya was questioned by media persons about who he thinks as his competitor . Surya politely replied that he never saw anyone as his competitor.Moreover he went one step ahead and praised Ajith's daring attempt to do a character that had negative shades in Mankatha.Surya was equally happy about Vijay's upcoming ventures with established directors . It is worth mentioning that Surya's 7aam Arivu and Vijay's Velayudham is releasing for diwali.It is a nice gesture from Surya to respect fellow actors and praise their good works.
