G V Prakash Composes In Los Angeles For Thandavam

 

Young G V Prakash is making waves now. He is very busy composing music for half a dozen films. Recently he composed a tune for his A L Vijay film Thandavam with director sitting in Los Angeles.

GV who is promoting the music of his MUK and has started composing music for director Bala's new film.G. V Prakash said :'Sitting with the director and composing tunes is still the best way. I love it but at times you have to use technology to save time.' His composin for the film Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal ( MUK) releases today.

Another busy Friday ahead for Kollywood. Last week had half a dozen releases, while this Friday will have five releases.

Movies in different genre are releasing for Tamil cinemas delayed Valentine weekend.

There are two romantic movies Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal and the bilingual Kadhalil Soddhapavadhu Eppadi (Love Failure in Telugu) which got the best of screens, two action entertainers Udumban and Kattupuli and a 3D supernatural thriller Ambuli.

The big English release is The Woman in Black which also has a Tamil dubbing.

Added to that in Hindi there is Gautham Menon's Ekk Deewana Tha, a remake of his highly successful romantic VTV which is releasing in 11 screens.

Ravi Teja's action comedy Nippu is the big Telugu release. ​

Venkat Prabu rubs his pad for the next project

 

It is almost certain that after Matran, Surya will be on the sets of his film with Venkat Prabu. Greatly revived after the turbulent success of Mangatha, Venkat Prabu has got more responsibility now. For Surya, this will be a litmus test before getting the dialogues from his favorite director Hari. As said earlier, Venkat Prabu is very cautious about the cast in this film and almost he finalized it. If the information let loose is factual then it would be Sonam Kapoor to share with Surya in the Tamil version.

For the Telugu version which has Ravi Teja he will be paired with Taapsee, said sources. As Surya has okayed the script and the cast probables, Venkat Prabu has initiated the commencement of the project with pre-production work. He will be discussing with Yuvan Shankar Raja for suitable songs and after that Prabu will be driving and flying for the identity of locations.

In the meantime, Matran will have Surya in dual role with a strong dose of action and sentiments. Some sources claim that one of them will be a baddie much on the scale of Ajith in Vaali and Vijay in Alagiya Tamil magane.

Ameer blames producers

 

Producers with no films on hand are making all the noise and blowing the FEFSI-TFPC wage increase problem out of proportion, remarked director Ameer at the audio launch of Malai Pozhudhin Mayakkathile recently.

The movie has Aari and Subha in the lead and is directed by Narayanan, who has assisted Mysskin earlier.

Taking a dig at the on-going film strike, Ameer said, "Mayuri Shekar, the producer of this movie, seems visibly happy. He is a true example of small film producers being more content.

Producers are ready to make films and employees are prepared to work; those who are not in production, create all the confusion.

An issue which can be sorted out in an hour is prolonged to weeks because of these jobless producers."

Several film personalities like Mysskin, Cheran, Balaji, Thamira, and Prabhu Solomon, as well as actors Vimal, Ashok, Prithivi and Shanthanoo, were spotted on the occasion.

Sivaji Ganesan epic to hit big screen again

 

Five decades after its release, Sivaji Ganesan's magnum opus Karnan is set to wow audiences all over again. This time aided by technology.

Karnan has become the first Tamil film, and the third in the country, to be digitally re-touched.
Mughal-e-Azam (Hindi) and Mayabazar (Telugu) are the first two.

The digitally enhanced version of Karnan is expected to hit the screens in about two weeks. Trailer release has been slated for February 21.

"Karnan is a movie I grew up with. I wanted the present generation to inculcate its values. That is the basic idea in re-releasing the film," said Shanthi Chokkalingam of Divya Films.

The digital enhancement has taken about three years. Technicians used digital intermediate technology and converted it to scope format to suit theatres of today. DTS 5.1 surround technology has been employed to improve sound quality of the film.

That the year is centenary of Karnan director B.R. Panthulu is nothing but "providential coincidence".

"We hope to re-release the film worldwide and in at least 50 theatres in the state," said Shanthi.

For younger-generation Sivaji fans such as Madhuvanthi Arun, the re-release is a rare opportunity. "I have watched it umpteen times, but always regretted the fact that I could not watch my all-time favourite Karnan on bigger screen in all its grandeur. I think this is fantastic," she said.

Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi Movie Online – Preview

If you have been longing to watch Siddharth in a direct Tamil movie, Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadiis the perfect opportunity. He is making a comeback of sorts with a rom-com in Tamil, releasing this Valentine's Day. Sharing screen with him is Amala Paul, whose Muppozhudum Un Karppanaigal is also releasing this valentine weekend.

Written and directed by debut director Balaji Mohan, who earlier assisted in the direction of the movie Kulir 100 degree, Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi is supposed to be a rib-tickling comedy about how tough it is to please a girl who is in love. Apparently, upon hearing the story Siddharth fell head over heels in love with it and immediately decided to produce it on his own thereby providing respite for Balaji Mohan's producer hunt for his story.

A bilingual, Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi is being released in Telugu as well as Love Failure. Jointly produced by Sashikanth Sivaji, Siddharth and Nirav Shah for Y Not Studios and Etaki Entertainment, the movie is largely shot in and around Chennai and Hyderabad. Designed as an urban flick, the movie will be released by Dil Raju in Telugu.

Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi has already generated enough curiosity among the movie going public with its quirky print ads, displaying thought bubbles of conversations between Siddharth and Amala Paul on their everyday life. These witty dialogues and thought exchanges have already become a hit raising the bar of expectations for the movie's release. Thaman's music has been well received when it was released in the last week of January. Siddharth has rendered voice for a few songs in the album and the songs are already filling up the airwaves of Tamil Nadu.

Siddharth's maiden production venture is hitting the screens this weekend and his future in production will be decided after the release of the movie.

Iniya out of Bharathiraja’s film

 

Bharathiraja is getting ready to begin the shooting of Anna Kodiyum Kodi Veeranum in Theni from tomorrow. The director had announced this project some months ago but the shooting has been stalled due to the FEFSI strike.

He had announced that Parthiban would play the lead role in this film but later Ameer replaced him. Karthika and Iniya were announced to be the leading ladies. But now sources say that Iniya has walked out of Anna Kodiyum Kodi Veeranum and the director is scouting for a suitable replacement.

On Valentine day (Feb 14), the 'Master of Romance' Gautham Vasudev Menon unveiled the 'first look' of his forthcoming Neethaane En Ponvasantham (NEP) on Youtube.

The less than a minute promo, featuring hero Jiiva and heroine Samantha is cute and magical.

Gautham is the only director in the present generation who has teamed up with AR Rahman, Harris Jayaraj and now with Ilayaraja.

Thirrupathi Brothers bags Aravan rights

 

There is no doubt that Vasanthabalan's Aravan is one of the most awaited films in Tamil this year. The film is the story of an ordinary man with an extraordinary talent. Aravan is based on one of the many stories that are part of 'Kaavalkottam' (a collection of novels penned by Su. Venkatesan).

Aravans were security guards named after Aravan, the son of Arjuna, who sacrificed himself before Goddess Kali for the victory of the Pandavas in the Kurukshetra war in Mahabharata. The story revolves around one such Aravan.

Recently the Aravan team faced some problems with regards to distribution, but now it looks like Lingusamy's Thirrupathy Brothers has acquired the release rights of this flick.

The movie stars Aadhi, Dhaniska and Archana Kavi in lead roles. The technical team of the movie includes Siddharth (camera), Karthik (music) and Vijay Murugan (art direction).

Dhanush casts Navratna but acts for Parachute!

 

A few days back, Dhanush had roped in Navratna hair oil to do in-film placement in the song 'Kolaveri Di' for his Aishwarya Dhanush directed 3.

Now, news has just come in that he has signed to endorse Parachute hair oil! Emami which produces Navratna hair oil and Marico the producers of Parachute hair oil are bitter rivals fighting for the Rs 3000 Crore all India hair oil market.

Both the companies say that it is just coincidence and the actor's deal with the rival brand will not clash with their interest. In the case of Navratna it is just an in-film product placement while Parachute has a long term commitment with Dhanush.

Dhanush in a way becomes the first actor in India who is indirectly promoting both the bitter rivals at the same time.

The brands want to increase their market share, one is piggyback riding on the Kolaveri Di song while the other stands to gain more as it has a long-term commitment with the actor himself.

Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathilaey trailer launched

 

Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathilaey (MPM) held its first press meet on February 15.

The meet was to introduce the team comprising of producer Mayuri Sekar and director Narayanan Nagendra Rao.

The film has newcomers Aari and Shuba in the lead with music by Achu.

Well known director Ameer was the chief guest at the function which was attended by Cheran, Balaji Mohan, Vimal, Shanthanu and Asokh. MPM is about what happens in a coffee shop between 6.30 to 8.30 pm.

Says MPM's writer and director Narayanan Nagendra Rao, one of Mysskin's favourite assistants : "The film is about an unlucky guy who gets lucky on the most improbable day. Set in a coffee shop, the film is a love story."

The highlight of MPM is its music which is making waves. Achu the music director was AR Rahman's former assistant and has composed music for six films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

Genelia’s political aspirations

 

Genelia says that she will campaign for the victory of her father-in-law Vilasrao Deshmukh in the forthcoming polls. The newly married actress has said that she will work towards the victory of her father-in-law and does not mind going on a whirlwind election campaign tour.

It is not new for film stars to join the election campaign in support of their friends and relatives. Genelia's decision to join the election campaign has raised many an eyebrow. Some say that the actress may be nursing a desire to make it to politics some day and this is her way of testing waters before taking the plunge.

Shruthi got apology from Weekly

 

Shruthi Haasan, who has filed a complaint against a weekly magazine for posting the rumours linking up with her co-star Dhanush, has got apology from the publication owners.

Shruthi is very happy, as the magazine people has expressed regret for posting the baseless rumours. The diva tweeted, "Today is an important day for me the weekly magazine that carried a completely fabricated story on me has made an apology (I appreciate it)."

Shruthi, who has taken a step forward and sent a legal notice to magazine demanding an explanation felling succeeded further tweeted, "Ultimately the truth does prevail, this whole mesh of so called sources and stories may finally untangle at least in my world ." 3 actress is awaiting for the release of her film, which is slated to release in March.
