Ko completes 175 Days

 

Jeeva, Ajmal Ameer, Karthika Nair and Piaa Bajpai starrer 'Ko' which is directed by K.V Anand has successfully completed 175 days and yet the film going well.

'Ko' is yet now running in 2 screens in Chennai at Devi Multiplex 4 shows and PRV 1 shows. In Kanjipuram at Aruna theatre 4 shows.

The film has ruled the box office and collection Rs. 50 crore at the box office. 'Ko' was produced by Kumar and Jayaraman under the banner of R. S. Infotainment. Red Giant Movies is distributed the film.

Osthi track list Online

Silambarasan, Richa Gangopadhyay starrer Osthi audio track list is out and tamilkey brings the track list to our viewers. Osthi has music by Thaman and the young music director is said to have compose five powerful tracks in the film. The music will see its grand launch on 19th, October.

UTV’s Muran breaks the hoodoo!

UTV Motion Pictures Muran with Cheran and Prasanna has broken the hoodoo surrounding small starless films in the overseas market.

Bollywood trade specialist Taran Adarsh had tweeted- Tamil film Muran had collected total after 2nd weekend, UK 12,940 [Rs 9.92 lacs] and USA 27,208 [Rs 13.28 lacs].

Muran was released directly by UTV in these markets and grossed in theatres over Rs.24 Lacs in the first 10 days itself, when the current overseas operators have categorically stated that there is no theatrical market for small and medium films.

Muran proves that there is a growing market for Tamil films in the overseas market regardless whether they have stars or not. If the content is good there is a market for films like Vaagai Sooda Vaa and others. US and UK are growing territories in addition to established Tamil strongholds like Singapore, Malayasia and other countries.

In future if the content of a small Tamil film is good then in addition to overseas theatrical, there is a growing home video, satellite and digital rights to exploit.

Clearly, the potential of Tamil films are not exploited adequately or being suppressed by the existing operators. Just imagine if Muran can collect Rs.24 Lacs only in two markets, what about the total collection all countries put together for this film and also for bigger films?

Vikram & KV Anand to get together?

The latest buzz in tinsel town is that Chiyaan Vikram and director KV Anand will be joining hands for a film! It is said that the duo met up and when KV Anand narrated his script, Vikram gave his nod immediately for the project and they have agreed to kick-start the film by mid next year.

KV Anand is currently busy in Russia, shooting Suriya and Kajal Aggarwal for 'Maatraan' that is taking shape at a fast pace. The film is said to be a pucca commercial entertainer and Suriya has lost some flab for this film.

Whereas Vikram is currently working on 'Rajapattai' with Suseenthiran where he shares screen space with Deeksha Seth. The film is scheduled to release for the Christmas holidays along with 'Vettai'. Post this film he will work on period flick 'Karikalan' whose first-look received much acclaim. It may be mentioned that Vikram also has a film with director AL Vijay and rumour mills further express he will be teaming up with his mentor Bala again.

If all goes well KV Anand and Vikram will team up by mid next year.

Shocked Upasana goes to Goa

It is known that Ram Charan had a miraculous escape the other day while shooting for an action scene on railway tracks in Goa. The Allan Ameen-choreographed fight sequence saw a train uncontrollably chugging its way and threatening to mow down the vehicle in which Cherry was seated. Luckily, the actor managed to escape with minor injuries.

His fiance Upasana was apparently shocked by the incident. She flew to Goa yesterday to spend time with Charan.

Well, Cherry will surely enjoy the company of his soul mate Upassana now even more!<

UTV’s Mugamoodi to start rolling on Nov 7

 

The shoot of UTV Motion Pictures super hero adventure film Mugamoodi, directed by Mysskin is to start on Monday, November 7 in Chennai.

It is a big budget film, and will be one the eagerly awaited movies of 2012.

Mugamoodi has Jiiva playing the super hero while Narain will be the bad man gunning for our hero.

The beautiful Pooja Hegde, second runner up of the 2011 Miss Universe India beauty pageant will play Mugamoodi's lady love.

Mysskin has chosen K, who did the background score of Yuddham Sei as the music director. K has already recorded a very catchy song written by Madhan Karky for the film.

Jiiva and Narain will have a new look for the film.

Friday Fury- October 14

The pre-Diwali season has started at the box-office, which means collections are going to take a nosedive.

People will be more interested in Diwali shopping than any form of entertainment. Still some of the backlog of earlier releases will be making it to the theatres.

The two small Tamil films of the week mainly in single screens are Uyirin Yedai 21 Ayiri and Keezhe Theru Kicha. Among the earlier releases, Mankatha andEngeyum Eppothum will be strengthened with more screens and shows.

Three dubbed films are also releasing this week.

The biggest among them is The Three Musketeers and its Tamil version Moonu Maaveerarukal.

The other dubbed attractions are Anbulla Kamal from Malayalam film 4 Friends and the Hindi action movie Azaan and its Tamil version called Asan!

Rana will resume soon: Soundarya

Soundarya Rajinikanth is all thrilled. She has stated that the shooting of Rana will commence soon as Rajinikanth has regained his fitness.

In an interview, Soundarya said, 'Rana is a period film and it demands Rajinikanth's heavy work. He has to appear in triple roles. He is fit and fine and raring to go for shoot'.

Sources now say the shooting might start in November. The movie is directed by K S. Ravikumar and has music by A R Rahman. Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone is playing Rajnikanth's ladylove.

Ravikumar has now made some changes to the scrip and shooting would resume soon. This has come good news for millions of Rajini fans across the globe.

Vimal goes on straight journey

No one can predict the rise and fall of the artists in the film industry. However, in tune with the world regard, slow and steady wins the race. For the hero of Kalavani, the journey is straight and forward. After the impressive performance in the recently released Vaagai Sooda Vaa (though a commercial flop) Vimal is on his next project.

Currently he is busy winding up his role in Ishtam he is to work for a new film Anaithukkum Aasaipadu. Normally he chooses characters which suits him on the whole and which are easily recognizable by the audience. Ethan was acclaimed for his versatile action as a cheat fooling people who lent him money. Vimal personally expressed his gratitude to the audience for their support right from his first venture Pandiaraj's Pasanga.

According to the director of Anaithukkum Aasaipadu, Ravi the story will revolve around Vimal's encounters in the city life where in the events will be full length entertainer. The movie is the remake of the Telugu film Emanidi Ee Vela ( what man at this time?).

Pandiraj floats production house by name Pasanga

When you're in a spot of bother and then come out of it, you should never forget those who helped you tide over the crisis. Director Pandiraj, who made the whole entertainment industry sit up and take notice with his debut directorial venture Pasanga in 2009, hasn't forgotten the helping hand of producer Sasikumar, who gave him his first break.

Following on the footsteps of directors Shankar, Lingusamy and Sasikumar, director Pandiraj too has turned producer by floating a production house named Pasanga. Pandiraj made Vamsam last year which starred debutant Arulnidhi and Sunaina in lead roles. He is now ready with his third directorial venture titled Marina.

About the lives of children who sell biscuits, tea and many other eatables in the vast expanse of Chennai's Marina Beach, Marina stars Oviya (of Kalavaani fame) opposite newcomer Sivakarthikeyan, a popular programme host on Vijay TV. Besides directing Marina, Pandiraj has also produced it under the banner of his new production house.

Speaking about his decision to turn producer, Pandiraj says "I toiled hard for a break in the industry before I met Sasikumar. Fortunately for me, he liked my script and decided to turn producer by making Pasanga in my direction. I have turned producer so as to ensure that no other budding director, who is in possession of good scripts, faces the same problems that I encountered. I'd give preference to producing newcomers' films!"

Ajmal essays dual roles in Karuppampatti

Post the success of his Ko, actor Ajmal has become a busy-bee in Kollywood. Ajmal, who debuted as an actor in Mysskin's Anjathay, did a few films including Taxi No.4777 but none of them earned him as much fame and popularity as his role of an young Turk-turned-politician in Ko did. The role, which had shades of grey to it, proved that Ajmal is a competent actor who can take on all kinds of roles.

Ajmal is presently involved in the film titled Karuppampatti where he plays the lead role opposite newcomer Aparna. The film is being directed by Prabhu Rajachozhan, who has taken a huge risk in filming 'live' the famous jallikkattu event which was performed in Palani some time back. Jallikkattu is a brave sport in Tamil Nadu wherein raging bulls are tamed by unarmed youths.

Talking about the progress of the film's shooting schedule, Prabhu has this to say: "As per the script, our hero is a resident of France but comes to the remote village Karuppampatti in India (Tamil Nadu) to find out his roots and to meet his other relatives. The story has been set in the backdrop of the enchanting eighties and has been narrated in an enthralling manner.

"We collected the photographs of those who were students in the locality in the eighties and have managed to make the actors resemble those students who have become old now. Ajmal plays dual roles for the first time but the screen-play has been set in such a manner that there won't be any 'meeting' of the two Ajmals in the film. Aparna too plays dual roles in the film," concludes Prabhu.

L.R. Eswari to be felicitated in European countries

Popular playback singer L.R. Eswari, known for her majestic base-voice, was recently felicitated in Chennai for having completed more than 50 years in the world of Tamil films as a playback singer. In her heydays, Eswari withstood the presence of 'superstars of singing' in the form of legendary P. Susheela, Jikky and S. Janaki and held her own besides winning the hearts of movie-goers and music lovers all over the world.

Eswari is also known for the many devotional sings she has rendered in praise of Goddess Amman. There isn't a single village or a township in the State where Eswari's Amman songs are not played during the festive season. The singer is now being felicitated in countries spread across the European continent which have a decent number of Tamil population.

The first of the series functions would be held on 14th October at Germany and would be followed by another function at the very next day i.e. on the 15th October at the French capital city of Paris. 16th October would witness the hosting of the function at Switzerland and would be followed by another event slated to be held on 21st October at Denmark.

The series of functions, named as Vanakkam Europe, concludes with a mega-event to be held in Norway on 22-23 October. The event is being organized by the popular orchestra Saadhaga Paravaigal.

Eswari would be singing many of her popular filmy and non-filmy numbers at all these events. Singers Naveen, Renaina, Bharani, Kavitha and Yaazhini would also be singing along side the legendary singer on stage during these events. As a precursor to this event, Sadhaga Paravaigal held a mega music concert in London over the last weekend for two days on 7-8 October. A lavish set costing Rs.3 crores was erected for the two-day event, held at the NI Arena auditorium in Birmingham.

Iniya is going places

In 2008 Bharathiraja directed his last film Bommalattam. Now he has become very busy in the pre-production works of his next film. The film is titled Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum. Parthiban is donning dual role in this film. He is donning the role of a father and son.

I am donning the role of a home nurse. My character in this film is soft spoken and innocent. I get the opportunity to speak and move with others when I come to attend Jayasurya in his house. I am selecting roles that will suit my appearance. Though I have debuted in Tamil film, I like to act in other language films. I also want to act in Hindi films.

Currently I am acting in 4 different language films. The taste differs in each language. But I will not get scared of languages and run away. Everybody told me that Malayalam is a tough language. I can speak Tamil fluently and hence it was easy for me to act in a Malayalam film. I also want to dub for my roles in my own voice."

Sonia has something to smile

She's all over in the news for her recent make-over, signing half a dozen films and to top it all her long delayed Sathurangam, making it to the theatres.

She has been getting critical acclaim for her performance in the film.

Says Sonia: " I am extremely happy in my second innings as an actress and the way my career is shaping out. Yesterday I signed a new film to be directed by N Manimaran titled Theervu. It is again a strong character, something I have not played so far. I loved the script and agreed to do it".

Does it peeve her that people approach her for intense, serious female oriented subjects? "I am fine with that. Doesn't it also mean that film makers feel that I can perform and can carry a film on my shoulders? I am sure that a big hero commercial cinema will fall into my lap soon".

On what life has taught her, Sonia says with a smile: "Always see the lighter side of things in life. A certain amount of detachment helps you deal with the world"

Sonia will be completing few scenes and two songs of Oru Nadigayin Vakumoolam and moving on to Theervu for which she is doing a photo-shoot this week. The film produced by Ananthis International will be shot in and around Chennai.

Silambarasan gets Beefy!

Silambarasan used to be one of the skinny guys but now that's a thing of the past.

The lanky actor is busy building muscles for the climax fight of his forthcoming action entertainer Osthi.

STR is on a low-Carb diet and works out on a carefully programmed regime. The flick directed by Dharani is a remake of Salman Khan's blockbuster Dabangg which will hit the screens by November.

Says STR: "I was so impressed after watching Salman and the hard work that he had put into Dabangg climax fight. I was inspired by the scene in which he takes off his shirt and shows his body. Now that Osthi is not releasing for Diwali, I told Dharani to wait until I get that perfect body to flaunt (smiles)"

Osthi audio will be launched next week and the film is slated for release on 11-11-11

AR Murugadoss Join With Shah Rukh Khan?

 

Shah Rukh Khan has said that he will star in a film to be directed by AR Murugadoss. The star said that AR Murugadoss had two stories for him and is fascinated by both. Soon after 7aam Arivu's release, AR Murugadoss will begin concentrating in this venture full swing, we are told. The King Khan is also very eager to work with AR Murugadoss considering the director's successful track record.
Industry sources also say that there is a strong indication that AR Murugadoss may direct Shah Rukh Khan because he had said that his next directorial venture will be a Bollywood flick. An official announcement is expected from AR Murugadoss and Shah Rukh very soon in this regard.

Vettai Confirmed for Christmas

 

 

Director Lingusamy is always known for choosing best marketing strategies to strike gold in box office. Well with the Midas-touch of UTV Motion Pictures, 'Vettai' is reaching to the peak of glory now.

The film has now reached the last schedule and the shooting is happening here at the locales of Chennai. Director Lingusamy in an exclusive interview with Top 10 Cinema had confirmed that the film will hit screens in December.

Madhavan on his part has confirmed that 'Vettai' will be a treat for Christmas. UTV Motion Pictures is known for releasing the film at right time and it has witnessed grand success following same tactics with 'Deiva Thirumagal' and 'Muran'.
